METU is the only university from Turkey to make it to the top 500 of Webometrics 2021 Ranking of World Universities!
METU ranked first among Turkish universities and 497th among world universities in the 2021 Webometrics Ranking of World Universities, announced in July. Thus, METU has become the only university from Turkey to be listed in the top 500 in the world ranking that consists of approximately 12 thousand universities, while ranking 207th in the ranking of European universities.
Webometrics Ranking of World Universities, which is announced twice a year, is prepared by Cybermetrics Lab, affiliated to the Spain-based Higher Council of Scientific Research. In the ranking, the following criteria are taken into account: links to university web pages provided by other websites, the citations of the most frequently cited researchers, and the publications in the top 10 percent of the most cited ones.
