Dear METUans,
While celebrating the 101st anniversary of 19 May, the spark that lit the fire that became our independence struggle, I remember the Great Leader Ghazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk and his fellow soldiers, who gave us our national sovereignty and independence, with gratitude and respect, and I wish mercy upon them.
Hoping that we can celebrate many more special days together safely and in good health, I congratulate you on the occasion of May 19, Commemoration of Atatürk, Youth and Sports Day. I appreciate with gratitude and respect the devoted efforts of METU students to prevent the fire we have experienced from spreading further.
