METU Cyprus Women’s Volleyball Team Takes Second Place in the League
The METU Northern Cyprus Campus Volleyball Team competed against the Eastern Mediterranean University Volleyball Team in the finals of the TRNC Universities Women’s Volleyball League, which was played in the Atatürk Sports Center in Nicosia on Wednesday, 25 May. In the closely contested final game, the Eastern Mediterranean University team prevailed over the METU Cyprus team with a score of 3-1. The Universities Volleyball League is organized by the University Sports Federation.
The METU Northern Cyprus Campus Volleyball Team finished the tournament in second place. All in all, it was a very successful season for the METU NCC team. Within the scope of the tournament, the team first competed against the women’s volleyball teams of Girne American University and Cyprus International University, defeated them 3-2 and 3-0 respectively, and advanced to the semifinals. In the semifinals, which were played on 23 May, the METU NCC team won the match, beating the Near East University team 3-2 and seized the opportunity to play in the finals. The METU NCC Women’s Volleyball Team, coached by Mehmet Metin Gezgin, Director of Sports and Recreation, includes Gizem Soylu, Yaren Gül, Deniz Darman, Büşra Ersöz, Beril Yılmaz, Aybüke Suvaroğlu, Görkem Öztürk, Yaren Duyan, Sena Gürbüz, Beyza Öztürk, and Berrak Uyar.
