A New Publication Featuring Collaborative Work Completed by METU Cyprus Mechanical Engineering Students Under Guidance

Kaan Büyüktaş, Muhammad Suhaib Waqar Joyia, Kemran Karimov and Ihtesham Khan, graduates of the Mechanical Engineering Program, METU Northern Cyprus Campus, attended the ‘WRE 2020 - 2nd International Workshop on Functional Reverse Engineering of Machine Tools’ on December 30, 2020 to present a research paper. Working under the guidance of their advisor Assoc. Prof. Dr. Volkan Esat, they produced a research paper based on their study, which was conducted by two different teams of students at METU Cyprus as part of the MECH458 Graduation Design Project course. The students took part in the Workshop held in Pakistan and sponsored by the IMechE (Institution of Mechanical Engineers, UK) and IEEE (Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers) and presented their work successfully. Following the Workshop, their paper titled "Machine Tool Improvement through Reverse Engineering and Computational Analysis with an Emphasis on Sustainable Design" was accepted to be published as a ‘book chapter’ and was released as a book chapter on June 21, 2021 in the technical book “Functional Reverse Engineering of Strategic and Non-Strategic Machine Tools”, published by CRC Press (Taylor & Francis Group), one of the world’s leading publishing houses.
