Admission
Applications for the SEES M.S. program will be accepted from motivated and successful students with background in:
- Natural and Applied Sciences such as physics, chemistry, mathematics, geology, and all engineering disciplines,
- Social Sciences such as political science, international relations, business, economics, psychology, and other related fields.
General Admission Requirements:
All students are required to satisfy the following requirements:
a) An undergraduate degree recognized by Middle East Technical University (awarded before the registration period in September).
b) A minimum Cummulative GPA of 2.50/4.00*, or an official transcript to demonstrate an equivalent general performance
c) Two reference letters
d) A statement of purpose
Additional Requirements:
e) All applicants need to demonstrate proficiency of English in order to be accepted to the program. This condition can be satisfied through one of the following:
- i. METU English Competency Test – minimum 65
- ii. TOEFL OLD Paper Based Test – minimum 550 and Test of Written English – minimum 4.0
- OR
- TOEFL Computer Based Test (CBT) – minimum 213
- OR
- TOEFL Internet Based Test (IBT) – minimum 79
- iii. IELTS – minimum 6.5
f) Citizens of Republic of Turkey need to take ALES and achieve a minimum of 55 as the equally weighted score.
*Students applying for financial support in the form of teaching or research assistantships may need a better GPA to qualify
