2023-2024 SUMMER SCHOOL ANNOUNCEMENT

 

Interactive Registration

Interactive registration involves the following steps:

• Tuition fee payment (see page 5 for payment details)

• Interactive registration for courses

• Advisor Approvals

 

Students who fail to follow any of these steps at the expiry of the interactive registration period are considered not registered to Summer School.

 

Summer school registrations and advisor approvals will be made interactively between 10 - 12 July 2024 for METU Ankara and METU North Cyprus Campus (METU KKK) courses. Since advisor approvals will be given remotely by academic advisors, students do not need to be on campus for advisor approval.

• Students must register online through the following URL:

  https://register.metu.edu.tr/

• The Registration program is opened at 1:00 p.m. on the first day of interactive registrations and closed at 5:00 p.m. on the last day. All the students can enter the system (on-campus or from outside campus; cabled or wi-fi) simultaneously.

• The Advisor Approval Program is opened at 2:00 p.m. on the first day of interactive registrations and closed at 11.59 p.m. on the last day.

   

Advisor Approvals

• During the registration for summer school, students will add the courses they want to take and finalize the registration process by clicking the "Request Registration Approval" button so that the request for approval along with the list of the added courses is sent to the Advisor Approval Program. Students who did not click the "Request Registration Approval" button will not be able to receive advisor approval.

• By viewing the Advisor Approval Program, the advisors will be able to see the students requesting approval and approve the requests without the need for the students’ passwords. An email that will inform the students that the approval has been done (with the following message: Your registration has been approved: “Kayıt Onayınız Yapılmıştır”) will be sent to the students automatically.

• When the advisor needs to contact the students about the issues related to the registration, s/he can click on the button “Request Correction” in the Advisor Approval Program interface. To do so, s/he will send an email titled “Registration approval correction”. In this case, the student will need to make the necessary corrections and send a request for approval again. At the end of this process, the students will have finalized the registration and the registration approval without having to contact their advisors in person.

• Our students need to be in contact with their advisors while handling the issues related to the registration and approval processes. In order not to experience any problems and inconvenience, it is essential that this change in the registration process be kept in mind. Our students need to make sure that, within the registration approval period, they have received the email (stating: “Your registration has been approved”) which is sent automatically.

• Registrations without an advisor APPROVAL are not valid.

• Advisor approvals will be given remotely by academic advisors. You do not need to be on campus for advisor approval.

Summer School Rules

• The 2023-2024 Academic Year Summer School will be held face-to-face.

• Registration for METU NCC and METU Ankara courses will be held on the same dates.

• A maximum of two courses can be taken in summer school. There is no limit to the number of credits.

• Our students are obliged to take the courses offered at METU NCC at METU NCC.

• Both courses must be taken at the same campus.

• Please note that the criteria, capacity and other conditions regarding the courses offered in both METU Ankara and METU NCC are determined by the related programs and departments, and METU NCC Registrar's Office can't intervene in this matter.

• Dropping and withdrawing from courses cannot be done in Summer School.

• Academic advisors and/or program coordinators should approve the courses to be taken at NCC or Ankara Campus. Courses not approved by the academic advisors will be dropped by the Registrar's Office after the interactive registration period.

• Students with probation status by the end of the spring semester can take only the courses they have taken before. A new elective course can be taken to replace a previously taken elective course.

• Courses taken before the 2022 - 2023 Spring Semester and passed with a grade of DD or higher cannot be taken in the 2023-2024 Summer School due to the three-semester rule. This rule does not apply to students on Probation.

• Preparatory school students who have passed the EPE before the registration period can take courses. They have to inform the Registrar's Office and apply for it.

• In order to change the categories of the courses taken in a category that should not be taken for any reason during the interactive course registration, students must apply for a category change in the interactive course registration dates. METU NCC students are required to fill out the Student Application Form on the Intranet to change the category.

Note for Engineering Students:

The following courses cannot be taken in the Non-Technical Elective (NTE) category at METU Ankara.

History of Jazz (MUS 231, MUS 232, MUS 331, MUS 332), History of Music (MUS 241, MUS 242), Foundations of Distance Education (CEIT 321).
