Risk Category List for Countries and Travelling Procedures

(Last Updated: 5/09/2020)

It has been announced that our students who will travel to the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus by air or by sea from countries in the category B (or from the countries in the Category A travelling via Turkey) until October 1, 2020 will be taken to the isolation centers that will be determined by the state authorities as soon as they arrive on the Island and they will be kept in quarantine in these centers (outside the Campus) for 7 days.  You should follow the travel warnings and restrictions on the official webpage of the TRNC Ministry of Health (https://saglik.gov.ct.tr/COVID-19-RISK-CATEGORIES-DUE-TO-COUNTRIES). Since we do not have any information about isolation centers and their conditions, we recommend that our students who will attend the exam should plan their travels in a way that does not coincide with the important dates. Considering the conditions required by the isolation process, and in order to protect the health of our students, it will not be possible to allow our students to isolate themselves on campus. Our students should not travel if not essential, and they should carefully follow the travel arrangements for the country of destination if they have to travel. Travel warnings and quarantine requirements are different for the Category B and C countries.

THESE CHANGES ARE DESCRIBED BELOW ACCORDING TO THE COUNTRY CATEGORIES.

Category A

Estonia Finland South Korea Liechtenstein Lithuania
Latvia Hungary Maldives Norway Slovakia
Slovenia New Zealand Canada Thailand Georgia

Persons from Category A countries who come to the TRNC via South Cyprus and show the negative PCR test results conducted within the last 72 hours to the Ministry of Health officer at the border crossing will be able to enter the country. These persons will not be subject to routine testing or quarantine.

Persons from Category A countries who come to the Northern Cyprus via Turkey will be subject to the rules applied for Category B countries.

Those who work, study and receive treatment in South Cyprus and those who travel South due to other reasons will only be able to go to South Cyprus by taking a PCR test once. However, these persons will be given random PCR tests. In addition, persons living in South Cyprus will be able to enter the country by showing a negative PCR result only once.

All citizens residing in Pile will be able to travel to or from Pile to the North continuously, provided that they show a negative PCR test result for once on their first pass.

Personnel of diplomatic mission, UN, EU, British Bases Area and similar international organizations in Cyprus will be asked to show a negative PCR result only once at their first pass. These people will also be tested randomly for Covid-19.
