Leave of Absence
Students may be granted permission to leave the University temporarily. Written applications concerning valid and reasonable grounds for
request of such permission are made to the Registrar's Office.
Basic Rules of Leave for Absence:
Leave may not exceed two semesters at a time, or a total of four semesters for a student's entire study period.
Periods which elapse untill the end of such leave, are not counted as part of the study period.
Applications for leave should be made after completing the registrations, including the tuition and other fees, at the beginning of the
semester. The students who are granted leave must pay the 50% of the tuition fee. This payment is not subject of any reimbursement after the return of the st?dent from
leave.
Applications for leave may be accepted in cases below:
Leave for health reasons: Must be properly authenticated by a medical certificate. The student who returns to the campus
after the semester which she/he was on leave must submit a new health report proving that the student's health condition has returned to normal.
Leave for "force majeur" cases: e.g.: Death of the one of the parents, natural disaster and similar cases,
Leave in case of participation to an academical exchange program abroad: Only through METU NCC assignment or scholarships
or exchange programs through participation of METU NCC, e.g.: Erasmus Programs. Students of this category should pay full tuition of the semester which they are
on leave.
Important note: Students those under arrest or in similar situations such as being under arrest or similar cases are not eligible for
application for leave.
How to take TRANSCRIPT?
Transcript Fee: Fee amounts are
as follows: Student Copy 7 YTL, Official Copy 10 YTL, any extra copy of an
official transcript at the same application 7 YTL Transfer fee is supposed to be
paid by the student. . ID number and department of the applicant student must
be written on the bank receipt. The bank receipt should be submitted to the
Registrars Office by hand or post/fax.
Official Transcripts: To request
an official transcript, students need to fill out the official transcript
request form. Students can both take their official transcript in sealed
envelope and send it themselves or the Registrars
Office will send the transcript to the address indicated by regular post.
To pick it up: Students can pick
up their transcripts from the Registrars
Office in three days. Transcripts can be sent to the students address if requested. To let
someone else pick up the transcript students need to give a letter of consent
to the person, who will pick it up.
